Minutes of the Women’s Studies Caucus Meeting
(April 15, 2000)
The session opened at 1:30 p.m. in Carnegie II of the Sheraton New York Hotel. There were approximately 80 people in attendance. Monica Rossi and Paola Malpezzi Price presided. They distributed copies of the Women’s Caucus Mission Statement. Following discussion of it, the Mission Statement was corrected, as per attached copy.
The Caucus named Angela M. Jeannet Secretary for the years 2001 and 2002. The Caucus then discussed the amount of the prize for the best paper read by a Caucus member at the yearly AAIS meetings. The amount was set at US$100.
We discussed invitations to be extended to Italian writers and intellectuals in cooperation with the AAIS Executive. Paola and Angela will contact Daniela Bini, AAIS new President, Ernesto Livorni, new Vice-president, and Millicent Marcus, organizer of the AAIS 2001 meetings, in order to begin next year’s process of program planning.
A motion was made and passed to include in the AAIS meetings a session under the Women’s Caucus aegis. A seminar format for that session seemed to find favor with the membership.
The meeting closed at 2:30 p.m.
